GOOD NEWS FOR GOLF BUYERS, bad news for cows maybe. Either way you look at it, Volkswagen UK’s compulsory leather interior upgrade on all new GT, GTI, GTD and R model Golfs means customers will get extra value for their hard-earned. Plus, with Bluetooth also being set up on these cars as standard that means more than £2000’s worth of extra value in total. Hmm... That’s going to mean current Mk5/Mk6 Golf owners should be able to snaffle up the stylish leather pews as ordered spares, too, right? Well, we would hope. Previously, you’d have to empty your pockets to the tune of £1890 for the luxurious black ‘Vienna’ leather upholstery as an option, but now both passenger and driver get electrically operated lumbar support and heated leather seats on said models in the Golf range. The GT, GTI and GTD all feature sports seats with bolsters to hold occupants securely in place, while the sports seats in the Golf R have even deeper ones. Recaro sports seats remain an option for Golf The Bluetooth phone preparation (previously a £255 option) is perfect for those who like their in-car wireless gizmos and multimedia transfers, so the tech upgrade means a bit of a cool saving there, too. This upgrade is offered for just £140 on GT models, and for no extra cost on GTD, GTI and R, meaning GT prices now start at £21,310, GTD at £24,635, GTI at £25,305 and R at £31,420.
