MarchF20AwardsSmall

The votes have been counted, the podiums erected and accolades duly dealt. These were the very best bits of 2011...

A staggering number of you took advantage of the opportunity of voting for your favourite cars, clubs, specialists, products and shows of 2011 and in the end it was a pretty close run thing in some of the categories. What obviously made it more difficult was the height of the bar set by the many rides we featured throughout the year – totally staggering.

So a big thanks to all our owners, and to all those that voted. Nice one guys. And remember, you too could walk away with an award for 2012 if you’ve got a top, feature-worthy project on the go – simply email us the details at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Best Golf Mk1

Nico Van Egmond

It was a close battle between Nico Van Egmond’s classy twin Weber’d 2.0-litre and Stuart Taunton’s old skool track weapon in the highly auspicious Mk1 category, with the Dutchman just taking top spot. Adam Martin gathered plenty of votes in third place, and we still admire his engineering prowess and deft ability to fabricate his own bespoke components.

Best Specialist

VW Heritage

We’re a lucky lot because there’s a mass of very good specialists out there to help us keep our VAG cars in rude health. However, no one works harder than VW Heritage – and that’s perhaps why you voted them GOLF+ Best Specialist in 2011. Forge and Rimstyle also had plenty of folk voting for them, obviously in response to their strong support of the Dub scene and the excellent service they provide. Well done all of you.
